We Owe It to Ourselves

Everytime I come across a photo of myself like this, one which I like, there is an immediate reaction of discomfort - who am I to feel confident in body, in my style, in my swag? We live in a world were east asian men, south asian men and in a larger context, men of colour, are not attractive, are not conforming to fashion and media's idea of what is considered attractive, sexy and worth of confidence. We as people of colour move in worlds where we are often not seen or heard. In those circumstances, we owe it to ourselves to love ourselves, be confident and not require a reason to post a photo of ourselves where we feel confident. I am worthy and deserving of attention. Fuck society's constant efforts to cut me down. I don't want old rich white men profiting off my self-hatred.
